the PAACS family/ la famille PAACS

The residents and their families are a really great group of people. They are also the real reason we are in Cameroon! They make everything worthwhile. All of them are good friends, which makes both work and free time much more enjoyable. The wives are often together. I walk by Gerald and Bertha Ekwen's house on the way to the hospital every day and often either Christine or Hanitra is there, also.
This is a picture of everyone together at our house after Christmas. They gave the Bartholomews and Jim and me these African outfits that night.

Some of us went together one evening to sing at the hospital. One of the chaplains went with us to translate into Fulfulde.

In January Jim and I and the 3 residents went for 2 weeks to a PAACS conference in Kenya. It was at BrackenhurstConference Center, a really lovely place with many large tea plantations nearby. The PAACS residents and directors from all over Africa were there together. There was lots of study and also some play, with games and skits. One Saturday there was a soccer match between those from West Africa and East Africa. The West Africans (in red in the photo) won!
